Yolanda Mazyck

Yolanda Mazyck, a native Pennsylvanian, relocated to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, to manage Shared Horizons’ Wesley Vinner Memorial Trust in January 2005.

Yolanda has more than 20 years of nonprofit experience as a social worker, primarily in the fields of substance abuse and criminal justice.  She worked as a certified addictions counselor and intervention specialist for nine years, before accepting the position as Director of the Neighborhood-based Family Intervention Center (NBFIC) in Sharon, Pennsylvania, working directly with the Mercer County Juvenile Probation Department and Mercer County Courts.  During her 12 years as Director, she developed and created new initiatives for delinquent youth, their families, and other “at-risk” populations.

Although Yolanda enjoys the challenges met through program and agency management, her natural strength is in workshop facilitation. Prior to relocating, Yolanda was called upon to facilitate a number of workshops including: The Fathers Workshop - Foundations of Fatherhood; The Woman’s Journey - Breaking the Cycle; Parent to Parent; Leadership and Family Retreats.

Yolanda recently completed the Strengthening Partners Initiative (SPI) through the District of Columbia’s Office of Partnerships and Grants, and looks forward to solidifying the partnerships formed during the year-long training process.

Yolanda resides in Maryland with her daughter, Saeeda.
