Unlike a bank account, the trustee or Executive Director of Shared Horizons has to approve all expenditures.  The individual or the individual’s representative asks the trustee to pay for something, by providing an invoice or receipts. 

The trustee will ask three questions:

1. Is the request in line with this person’s needs?

2. Do the rules for the pooled special needs trusts allow it?

3. Is there enough money in this person’s individual account to pay for this?

 

If the answers are yes to all three questions, the request will be approved.

The Trustee will release a check within 3 business days of the request.
