State Medicaid rules and federal law are used to determine what is categorized as allowable, discretionary, non-support or supplemental, special needs.  Monies from the Trust are never used for support, maintenance or primary medical.  The Vinner Memorial Trust is designed to allow money to be put aside for the supplemental needs of a person with a disability.  The following examples are not exclusive, but illustrate the types of special, supplemental, non-support disbursements that are appropriate for the Trustee to make on behalf of the trust beneficiary:

 

Ø Electronics

Ø Vacations, recreation, entertainment

Ø Classes and workshops

Ø Cable, telephone, internet services

Ø Some medical and dental services

Ø Rehabilitative and occupational therapy services

Ø Athletic training or competitions

Ø Personal care attendant or companion

Ø Clothing

 

The Trust can purchase any good and service that adds quality to life, and are not paid for by public benefits.
